How to Find the Correct Casio Watch Battery
The easiest way is to identify your watch model or module number.
You’ll find the model name on the case back, along with the module number used by Casio for technical documentation.

Should You Replace the Battery Yourself?
Changing a watch battery is usually straightforward, but opening the case can affect the water resistance of the watch.
Casio seals each watch with a gasket that should be inspected, cleaned and correctly seated before the case is closed again. Without the proper tools, it’s difficult to restore the same level of sealing.
For that reason, Casio recommends having batteries replaced by an authorized service center.

Standard Casio Watch Batteries
Most battery-powered Casio watches use one of two battery families:
- CR batteries – lithium coin cells commonly found in digital models.
- SR batteries – silver oxide batteries widely used in analog and analog-digital watches.
The exact battery depends on the movement inside your watch, so always verify the model before ordering a replacement.
Casio Tough Solar Batteries
Solar-powered Casio watches don’t use standard disposable batteries.
Instead, they contain a rechargeable energy cell designed to store power collected by the solar panel built into the watch face.
Depending on the model, you’ll typically see battery types beginning with CTL, although other rechargeable cells are also used across the Tough Solar lineup.
These rechargeable batteries generally last much longer than conventional watch batteries and often provide 10 years or more of service before replacement becomes necessary.
To keep the battery healthy, wear the watch regularly or leave it in bright daylight whenever possible. Natural sunlight charges it the fastest, although strong indoor lighting also helps.
Many Tough Solar models display a battery level indicator:
- HI – battery fully charged.
- MID – normal operating level.
- LOW (LO) – battery needs charging.
Important
Rechargeable CTL batteries are designed specifically for Casio Tough Solar watches.
Installing one in a regular battery-powered Casio will not make the watch solar powered. Likewise, replacing a Tough Solar rechargeable battery with a standard coin cell can damage the watch.
